Questions buyers ask

The 3d product animation questions we get.

Real cost, timeline and process questions from brand teams shortlisting SMAPIT for 3d product animation. Answered with the numbers and workflow we actually deliver against.

  1. 01

How much does a 3D product animation cost per second?

3D product animation costs roughly $100 to $400 per second at studio-grade quality, or $300 to $12,000 for a 30-second cut depending on complexity. Hard-surface product moves with clean CAD sit at the low end. Cinematic hero films with dressed environments, secondary motion (fabric, liquids, particles) and heavy final edit sit at the high end. SMAPIT rebuilds brand films that would traditionally cost ₹40 to 60 lakh in CGI + AI for a fraction of that. The 3D master is built once, and every cut and aspect ratio renders from the same scene.

  2. 02

How long does a 30-second product animation take?

A 30-second true-to-life 3D product animation ships in 3 to 5 weeks end to end. 3 to 5 days for modeling and texturing, 5 to 7 days for animation and camera work, 3 to 7 days for rendering, and 3 to 5 days for final edit, sound and revisions. With the AI-assisted process, background plates, extra shots and variant edits generate in parallel with the hero CGI render, compressing total time to 2 to 3 weeks.

  3. 03

What is your process from brief to final animation?

Six steps, same every time: brief and AI strategy, 3D concept and design, animation and camera, render, iterate, deliver and cut down. The brief locks the story, format and channels. The 3D concept sets art direction and camera language before any render. Animation and camera work happens inside the same scene file. Rendering is the longest single step (3 to 7 days for a 30s cut). Revisions happen in-scene, so a change is a re-render, not a new shoot day. Delivery includes hero cut plus all channel-sized cutdowns.

  4. 04

Can 3D animation replace a live-action product shoot?

Yes, for most product-hero and feature-story briefs. Live action still wins where a specific human interacting with the product in a specific real place is the story. For exploded views, feature call-outs, impossible camera moves, cross-section reveals and cinematic product hero moments, 3D animation delivers what a camera physically cannot capture. The 3D master unlocks unlimited re-cuts, aspect ratios and language variants from the same scene.

  5. 05

Do you deliver in the aspect ratios needed for Reels, YouTube and TV?

Yes. Every animation delivery includes 16:9, 9:16 and 1:1 cutdowns, plus custom ratios for TV placement or DOOH boards on request. The 3D scene is set up to reframe cleanly across formats, so a 30-second hero cut generates full-length YouTube, 15-second Reels and TikTok cuts, 6-second Meta bumper cuts and 1:1 marketplace video from the same source. Cutdowns are scoped up front, so the animation blocking accommodates all target ratios.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

The things brands ask before the first brief. Anything else, just email us.

Both, depending on the shot. Hero product moves stay in pure CGI to keep shape locked. Background plates, secondary motion (fabric, liquids, particles) and variant edits use AI (Kling, Runway, Veo, Seedance) to compress production time and cost. The choice is per-shot, not per-project.
